Those empty eyes
Those rags wrapped
around cold and bony feet
They once had lives
They made mistakes
and tasted defeat
And now they barely
scrape by
And who cares?
Who cares about the
veteran, the actor, the mother.
Who cares about the
nurse, the electrician, the once happy man.
Who cares.
David, I really like the message you're trying to deliver in this poem! As I read this, it made me think about all of the homeless people I've passed not thinking twice about it. This poem made me think deeply about those who have had hard times and bad luck. I look back at those I've seen going through this and feel a type of sorrow that they are having such hard times.
