Poem Remix

Original

Tulips by Sylvia Plath
I am nobody; I have nothing to do with explosions.
I have given my name and my day-clothes up to the nurses
And my history to the anaesthetist and my body to surgeons.
She wishes to remain in a state of emptiness, but the flowers intrude upon this state
I didn't want any flowers, I only wanted
To lie with my hands turned up and be utterly empty.

Remix
I lie with my flowers
She only wanted explosions
My history intrudes in a state of emptiness
And I didn’t want to be utterly empty
But the flowers have nothing to do with the nurses
I wish to remain
My hands turned up
I have given nobody my name
And my day-clothes and body and surgeons
I am up to any anaesthetist
Upon this state
I lie
